Breakfast Club – August 21st

August 18th, 2010 Comments off

The Ballantyne Breakfast Club community information forum will be meeting on Saturday, August 21st, at the Ballantyne Hotel in the Fairway Ballroom. Our guest speakers include CMS Superintendent Dr.Peter Gorman and Mecklenburg County Sheriff Chipp Bailey.

This meeting will provide us with an opportunity to discuss with Dr.Gorman and his staff the recently announced test accomplishments and perhaps most importantly the changes that will be taking place with the school system.

Sheriff Bailey will take a few minutes at the start of our meeting to introduce himself and share information about the department he manages.

Presentations will start at 9AM but we recommend you arrive early to enjoy the free refreshments provided by our host the Ballantyne Hotel.

Please let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know about our meetings.

For more information, visit the Ballantyne Breakfast Club web site.

Roof Replacement / ACC Approval Reminder

July 25th, 2010 Comments off

The ACC has seen an increasing trend of roof replacements in the neighborhood apparently from insurance payments for hail damage.  While maintenance and upkeep are always welcome in an aging neighborhood, we want to remind you that roofing projects, like all projects that modify, change or replace exterior elements of a home must be approved by the ACC prior to commencement of the project.  Approval is needed even if you are going to replace the roof with similar colors and materials.

As a guideline, the ACC has approved the following roof colors in the past – Charcoal Black, Desert Tan, Driftwood, Barkwood, Charcoal, Slate, Shakewood, Weathered Wood, Onyx Black and Estate Gray.  The ACC tries to stay with the existing look of the community which has been in the gray, black and brown families.

The ACC has a track record of cooperation with neighbors on getting projects approved quickly.  By following the established approval processes, homeowners will avoid unnecessary potential conflicts and costly remediation of projects completed without prior approval.

    Web Links

  1. ACC Request for Approval
  2. TCA / ACA Web Info

Attached is an updated approval form that should be used in connection with these or any other projects.  Completed forms should be sent to Superior Association Management so that they are properly logged and efficiently distributed to the ACC for timely approval.

book image
The Thornhill Book Club will meet on Monday, August 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. – place TBD. The book selection is Look Again, by Lisa Scottoline.

Also, for those of you who are fast readers, we thought it would be fun to pick up a Janet Evanovich novel to read along with and share with the group that title too, something fun and different for summer. Also any other “gems” you have read over the summer!

Enjoy your Summer and hope to see you in August!

Ribbons / Medals

July 6th, 2010 Comments off

Good morning Tornados,

Many of you were unable to attend our team party last week and did not receive your medal.

The Plan:

I will leave the ribbon box on my front stoop for the next couple of weeks…….beginning on Friday this afternoon at 2:00. It will be there from 8:00AM-7:00PM everyday, unless the skies open up. Feel free to come and retrieve your ribbons and medals during those hours.

All Star Entries Update

Please note the last e-mail regarding the All-Star changes. We added a couple of swimmers to our alternates, so they will be attending the All-Star meet.

The Future:

We will be selecting a date in the near future to reunite the team . . . and go ICE SKATING!!!! We will notify you with details! It’s a great thing to do in the summertime . . .!

See you soon.
